Mamma Mia! Here We Go Once again is a 2018 jukebox musical romantic one-act motion-picture show written and directed by Ol Parker, from a story by Parker, Catherine Johnson, and Richard Curtis. It is the sequel to the 2008 film Mamma Mia!, and the 2nd & terminal film of the Mamma Mia! film serial. which in plough is based on the musical of the aforementioned name using the music of ABBA. The film features an ensemble cast, including Dominic Cooper, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, Jeremy Irvine, Josh Dylan, Hugh Skinner, Lily James, Jessica Keenan Wynn, Alexa Davies, Christine Baranski, Julie Walters, Andy García, Meryl Streep, and Cher. Both a prequel and a sequel, the plot is set after the events of the previous film, and is intersected with flashbacks to Donna's youth in 1979, with some scenes from the two time periods mirroring each other.

Due to the financial success of the beginning moving-picture show, Universal Pictures had long been interested in a sequel. The film was officially appear in May 2017, with Parker hired to write and straight. In June 2017, many of the original cast confirmed their involvement, with James being bandage in the role of Young Donna that July. Filming took place from August to December 2017 in Croatia (almost prominently Vis), Bordeaux, Stockholm, Oxford, Hampton and at Shepperton Studios. A British and American joint venture, the film was co-produced by Playtone, Littlestar Productions and Legendary Entertainment.

Mamma Mia! In a flashback to 1979, a young Donna Sheridan graduates from Oxford'due south New Higher with Rosie and Tanya ("When I Kissed the Instructor"), and dreams of a Greek isle named Kalokairi. Donna's mother, Ruby, is a famous vocalist, but she has a strained relationship with her daughter and is consistently away on tour, and does not attend the graduation. Fed upwards with her mother'southward constant negligence and determined to spend her life making memories, Donna decided to travel to Kalokairi to find her destiny.

In the present, five years after the events of the showtime moving-picture show, Sophie is in Kalokairi preparing for the chiliad reopening of the Hotel Bella Donna, in honour of her recently deceased mother. Harry and Bill are unable to attend due to overseas business ventures and Sophie also feels estranged from her husband, Sky, who's been offered a permanent job in New York ("One of Us").

In Paris, Donna meets the sweet but bad-mannered Harry Bright, who instantly falls in honey with her ("Waterloo"). They spend the dark together, just Donna leaves presently after for Greece. She misses her boat to Kalokairi but is offered a ride past Nib Anderson in his yacht, and the two dance and flirt ("Why Did Information technology Have To Exist Me"). On the manner, they aid a stranded fisherman, Alexio, dorsum to shore in time to save the love of his life from having to marry another. Meanwhile, Neb, Harry, and Sky leave their ventures abroad to back up Sophie only are told in that location are no boats to Kalokairi. Nevertheless, a much older Alexio recognises Bill and offers the trio safe boat passage to the isle as gratitude for saving his relationship. Bill convinces the others to join them for a political party on Kalokairi. When the guests make it ("Dancing Queen"), Bill and Rosie quickly reunite over their common grief over Donna'due south death, and Sophie reveals to Heaven that she is pregnant, and she has never felt closer to her female parent.

The celebration is suddenly disrupted when Ruby arrives, despite Sophie having decided to non invite her. Red explains that Sky tracked her down in New York, and she wants to build a true relationship with her granddaughter. Sophie then performs with the Dynamos in honour of Donna ("I've Been Waiting for You"), much to the pride of Ruby, who expresses slight only sincere grief over her daughter's expiry. It is then revealed that the hotel director, Señor Fernando Cienfuegos, is actually Red's long-lost lover from 1959, and the two are joyously reunited ("Fernando").

Ix months afterwards, Sophie has given nativity to a baby male child, named Donny. At the christening, Donna's spirit proudly watches over her girl as the two of them have one final moment earlier Donna fully passes on ("My Love, My Life"). Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again was announced on May 19, 2017, with a release date of July 20, 2018.[10] It was written and directed by Ol Parker.[11] On September 27, 2017, Benny Andersson confirmed iii ABBA songs that would be featured in the film: "When I Kissed the Teacher," "I Wonder (Difference)," and "Angeleyes."[12] "I Wonder (Divergence)" was cut from the moving-picture show, but is included on the soundtrack anthology.

Here We Go Over again was released via digital copy on October 9, 2018, and released on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K UHD Combo Pack on October 23, 2018.[31] The motion picture debuted at the top of the NPD VideoScan Commencement Alert chart for the week ending on October 27, 2018.[32] It retained the elevation spot on the chart for the calendar week ending on Nov three, 2018.[33]
